Community Case Study: Joshua Tree
A New Build Respite Centre for The Joshua Tree

Project Overview
Client: The Joshua Tree
Location: Nantwich
Project Value: £850,000
Scope: New-build respite centre
Phase 1 Completion: 2019
Our Involvement
In 2017, Construction Q were invited to tender for the Quantity Surveying services for the new-build respite centre for The Joshua Tree in Nantwich. Recognising the escalating consultancy costs and the limited funding available to the charity, we made the decision to donate our services entirely on a pro-bono basis
Our remit extended further than this as we also brought in members of our own supply chain who were happy to donate their services. This was an extremely rewarding project and works were completed in 2019. We provided Cost Planning, BQ’s, Tender Services and Post Contract Valuations and Cost Management. We even sponsored the final window graphics for the grand opening when it became apparent there was nothing left in the kitty.
Community Impact
Working alongside Dai, Linda and the Joshua Tree team was a privilege, and the project inspired further involvement beyond construction. CQ’s Fiona and Mark even took part in a charity Dragon Boat Race to raise additional funds.
Project Legacy
Phase 2 recently featured on the BBC’s DIY SOS, where Nick Knowles and the team delivered a 375m² extension in just 12 days—a testament to the importance and momentum of the foundation’s work. Having supported Phase 1, we understand the remarkable scale of this achievement.
